Linux Color Screen

Another issue I've come across in my transition from UNIX to Linux is
when I go to edit a screen I get a popup that says "This screen is
monochrome only" and it asks me if I want to convert it to color and
continue.
On my old SCO UNIX box I would unset PFTERM and I wouldn't get this
prompt. Under Linux I don't have PFTERM set to anything and TERM is set
to Linux. Is there a way to edit the screens without being prompted to
convert them to color screens?
I'm using environment variables to apply color to the monochrome
screens. If I convert them to color then I just get a black&white
screen.
Thanks,
Chris
