Second request-need to compress / remove empty records from an fP key file

I don't think the "key" file could be larger than the
OS permits :-)  Isn't that an oxymoron?

Actually from experience on unix systems I have found
that the last record gets only partially saved so that
the key file length is exactly at the file limit.  It
can be read just fine with the alien file technique.
