Not so! When you run a Windows version of filePro on the *client* machine,
there is no need for, or place for, a terminal emulator. The filePro runs
as a Windows console program; that is, it looks like a DOS application.

If you run it on a Windows server, such as 2003, you have some options as
far as what to do for access from the clients. Here is my understanding of
the options; anyone please correct me if I am wrong:

1) Have the clients run a Terminal Services session, also known as Remote
Desktop. This establishes a virtual graphical session into the server,
with desktop icons, etc. In this environment you can run the console-based
filePro. You may or may not want to run a VNC to underlie the remote
desktop connection.

2) Run fpGI, a graphical overlay over a proprietary socket connection from
client to server.

3) One person reported running a third party telnet daemon and client.

I have experimented with a possible fourth option, using the Microsoft
supplied telnet daemon on the Windows 2003 box, and accessing it using
either the Windows telnet client or Anzio (in an unreleased version).
There seem to be problems with this approach, which I have not fully
identified.

Note that all of these have significant differences from the traditional
character-based-Unix-with-telnet-client environment. Besides scripting
differences mentioned earlier, there could be differences in printing, for
instance.
