No, I'm adding it manually from an IUA screen in dclerk.

I had the indexes that were with it, got the error adding the record,
rebuilt the indexes, tried again, same deal.
I'm not setting any index-related env vars. If some are set via the main
config file, I'm not aware of what they are, but my own environment has
nothing special added in that respect.
I can't speak to "index def level", as I'm unclear as to what that
terminology refers.
This happened several times so I just accepted it as a "fact" of adding
records to an alien file and let it ride with the extra enter to clear the
error message, since everything else about it seems to work fine.
Highly annoying though.
