: Just one question. Who in the world would spend hundreds of dollars for a
: device to write over CD/DVD's just to render them unreadable???? I'm in the
: wrong business if this scam can be pulled over the eyes of anyone.
:
: I mean, it takes 3 minutes!!!! A pair of scissors and two or three cuts and
: not even the fictional CSI guys could put that data back together.

That would have been my first impression. However, in the data business
it is sometimes quite important to document and demonstrate. While my favorite
method IN MY SITUATION would be to use any of the number of shredders that
currently ship with a CD/DVD slot, many situations require proof that the
data has been destroyed, in the form of "Yes, here's the media and it is
marked as being erased!", vs "Media, what media? We shredded all the media.
Sure, we got it all.".

Different tools can perform the exact same task in different ways, and for
entirely different reasons.
