I don't have access to any of the xfer scripts I've written right now, but
as I recall, xfer should be creating a batch file called "xferix" that
should contain a script of dxmaint commands that will rebuild all the
indexes on the target machine exactly as they were on the source computer.
I think the xferix commands were built for each file and qualifier for each
and every existing index; even the empty key and data files, as long as they
did have an index configured on the source computer.
I haven't used Xfer recently, but there were a couple of "gotchas",
though:
I don't recall where this script gets created. By default I think it is
in your filePro temp directory (/appl/filePro/tmp or /appl/filePro/xfer or
something like that). I don't recall if this gets created on the DOS end or
the Unix end, but it should be easy enough for you to search for. HOWEVER,
the xferix script also gets overwritten with EACH change of file name as you
transfer files, so you need to run xfer to transmit only ONE filePro file at
a time and write something that will capture this xferix script and append
it to some other file in between each separate filePro file transfer.
Lastly, I think I had to edit the big script of all the appended xferix's
because the slashes and paths were not correct for the target machine. This
might have been because I usually store the programs in /u/fp or for some
other reason that I don't recall right now.
When I get back to my office this evening, I can look at some of my old
scripts and send you examples, if you still have questions.
