Filepro and Samba

I'd get a copy of the O'Reilly book on Samba.  I've found the book to be
very helpful in getting Samba up and running.

Hit www.suse.com for SLES, or www.opensuse.org for OpenSuSE depending on
your intent.  Given your stated budget, you'll likely opt for OpenSuSE.

Obtain, install, configure.  When in doubt, use 'man' (ie., man samba, 
man smb.conf, etc.) or read other documentation. 

That pretty much concludes the tight budget version.
