Telling "processing only" from a report

Is there any easy way to tell whether an out.* file is a
processing-only file, or whether it is a report or any other printed output,
other than to actually open it? (SCO Unix 5.0.6, filePro 5.0.14)
The only thing I can see is to use a file size cutoff of something like
250 bytes, so that I can skip reviewing any "processing only" out.* files.
I'm not sure if that will be very accurate, but it seems to work.
I'm working with a customer that thousands of reports that will have to
be examined and changed, so I'm looking for any way I can to shorten down
the checklist of reports that I am preparing for the lady who will actually
be doing the preliminary examination.
Thanks,
Mike
