     I don't recall seeing a heating problem or battery life issue on the
NEC 890's.  However, they were used by sales reps driving from one customer
to the next, so they were only turned on for perhaps 10 or 15 minutes at
each of the 5 to 10 customer stops in a day.

     The NEC 890's were much larger units than the HP/Compaq clamshell units
that I did my first testing on.  The 890's also had color screens, so
perhaps they also had beefier batteries and cooling.

     I even tried to use a NEC 890 when I traveled, instead of carrying a
laptop, but that experiment was short-lived.
