OT: bugs in the xls2csv program??

There is a program out there called xls2csv. We have been using it awhile.
Recently, we noticed that it is doing something really strange... We got the
latest version. Same thing.
It is randomly converting whole columns of 2 digit (money format) to numbers
with 7 extra decimal numbers attached. Like 327.02 beocmes 327.020123849.
The whole column of numbers will have this extra garbage on them. Doesn't
matter what format we make the column before the conversion. Some columns
work perfectly fine... others, no.
Also, jusst today, the thing started converting dates badly. It has been
turning 03/04/2006 into 03-04-10. This now breaks the program beyond our
using it. The extra 7 digits never started with anything in the 3rd decimal
position other than 0 or 1, so filePro has been doing okay with the first
two decimal places... not rounding up. However, if one of the 3rd digits
ever becomes equal to or greater than 5 we would be in big trouble. Now with
the bad date conversion this program becomes useless.
Anyone seen this same trouble. Anyone have an xls to csv converter that
works proeprly???
Thanks,
(Must, of course, work from the *nix command line. We are on SCO O/S 5.6)
John
P.S. - I have written to the keeper of this program, someone named Vitus in
Russia... sure, I'll get an answer... it's been a week. :-(
