YES problem adding fields to linux system fails and PFNODF is not the solution(5.014)

Is it just me, or did Tony Freehauf say:

In an effort to diagnose the problem, both before and after you attempt to
add the fields, do an 'ls -l map' and see if the timestamp differs.

Actually, give an 'ls -la' on the whole directory...it could be as simple
as filepro not actually being able to write to the dir or file.  You did
mention shuffling things back and forth via ftp.
