It's possible your codec is screwy.  (I've had this happen, albeit with MS
Video 1, not WMP9, so it -can- happen.)

Try installing the codec pack from MS and see if this fixes your issues:

If it doesn't, about the only thing I can say is that, as of 2min ago, the
WMP 11 page says -BETA-, quite possibly for good reasons.  Try rolling back
to WMP9 in that event.
