When asked his whereabouts on Mon, Feb 27, 2006 at 10:08:51PM -0500, Walter
Vaughan took the fifth, drank it, and then slurred:
> I kinda thought it was about SQL servers and Multi-valued DBMS's, and to
> measure the market for their "Me Inc" stuff. It's a PITA to communicate
> with the current tools from PHP to all the multivalued DBMS's on that

Questions 21-23. It doesn't get any more directed than that. For those
too lazy to look up the survey [again]:
-----
21. Have you heard of the LAMP solution stack
(Linux/Apache/MySQL/Perl/Python/PHP)? Yes NO
22. A similar, yet more robust, solution stack from SCO is the SCAMP
solution stack (SCO UNIX/Apache/MySQL/Perl, Python,PHP). Would you like to
learn more about SCAMP? Yes No
23. Would you like to be contacted about the SCO SCAMP stack with MySQL?
Yes No
-----
I think that reads as pretty clearly targetted.
As for SCO, I haven't kept up with anything except the lawsuit regarding
them. What's "Me Inc"?
And PHP...heh. It's a PITA to deal with PHP at all. I'm certainly no fan
of it. And compared to perl or python, PHP is a security nightmare if you
can go by the security digests outlining vulnerabilities in PHP-based apps
and PHP itself. The only bigger magnet for programmers of insecure code is
probably in Redmond. It's gotten -so- bad, SANS took the following measure
on February 20:
"Note: The number of web application vulnerabilities, such as file
include, SQL injection and others, has sky rocketed in the last few
years. To keep Part I of @RISK to a manageable size, we limit part I
coverage to critical vulnerabilities in widely-deployed web packages
such as phpBB. If you use less widely-deployed web applications, please
be sure to review part II to find their vulnerabilities."
There've been -so- many bugs (90% of them are PHP-based apps) that they're
not even going to report them all anymore.
PHP == __AVOID__
As for the "multivalued" part, what do you mean, exactly? I'm not grasping
your whole meaning.
> filePro is a Rapid Application Development toolkit that has a simple

I wanna read about this "initiative".

It's gotta be better than my P100 Digital HiNote VP laptop. :) Besides,
my wife is wanting a PDA anyway...

There is no "I" in TEAM.
This would be the primary reason I've chosen not to join one.
