I kinda thought it was about SQL servers and Multi-valued DBMS's, and to measure
the market for their "Me Inc" stuff. It's a PITA to communicate with the current
tools from PHP to all the multivalued DBMS's on that list, so that (LAMP),
cannot be it. I know I spent a few weeks in that exact world. The only thing
that I see in common from that list is that they all have some sort of normal
SQL interface.
filePro is a Rapid Application Development toolkit that has a simple built-in
data store, and does not compliment in any shape or form the "Me Inc"
initiative. If it does, someone please give me the cluestick.
Flooding the survey with "other" is not what they are looking for. If it was me,
and I was fishing for information in order to connect PDA's to SQL servers,
getting a bunch of filePro responses would just p*ss me off.
Working with syspro the past two weeks has opened my eyes to the power of
dot.net, so I fully understand that having a development environment that would
work with *nix servers as simple as MS products inter operate would be quite
powerful and extremely compelling.
What's comical is that as an incentive to fill out the survey, they are giving
our a 1-1/2 year old PDA running Microsoft Windows for Pocket PC's.
