That is exactly what has happened to us/me here.

What's interesting to me in our process of either moving to a MS-SQL server
based ERP/MRP/DM or one based upon IBM's multivalue DBMS "Universe" or "U2",
some things I have learned on the multivalue side of things.

I believe that a U2 environment does all of his wish list items (1. Full
functioning memo fields, 2. Scrollable fields, 3. Updateable grids, 4. ODBC with
read and write capabilities, 5. SQL with read and write capabilities,...) with
middleware from companies large and small. So the solution does not have to be
complete surrendering to the "Gates of Redmond".

On the other hand, an overwhelming majority of multivalue/pick developers are in
their late 40's to pushing up daisies. I see a lot of whining about "we need
advertising" because CEO's are unwilling to write a check for solutions written
with anything other that Oracle or Microsoft products. They claim that have "The
industries' best kept secret". :)

So, what to do about tomorrow?

Sometime you have to eat your young in order to feed a newborn.

The cheapest solution for me would be to do nothing for the time being if I had
a road map utilizing all the years of filePro programming we have in place that
solved all of "Mr. Tips's Wish list". I just don't see that happening.

P.S. Congratulations all you Steelers fans...
