Well first, did you send Irfan Skiljan some money since you are using this in an 
commercial endeavor? Your company should since the license clearly states 
non-commercial (home) use only.

Secondly, irfanview is a Windows application, and it expects to be able to open 
the file like any other local or networked file on the the computer. For your 
LAN users they are looking at the file I am guessing on a shared directory. Do 
your WAN users have some sort of VPN setup that allows them to connect to this 
same shared directory as if they were LAN clients?

That's your problem.

It's very doable, but I would strongly suggest you engage the services of 
someone who knows how to set this up for you.
