SBC has been working with me over the past year or so. We've tried
everything we can think of. They put in an "official" DSL filter box
outside and ran a separate (DSL only) line into my house. They
switched my copper. They even ran a new 18-pair line from my
backyard junction box up to my house.
On my end, I've done everything they requested, including hooking an
old computer directly to the DSL without any router/firewall so they
could run diagnostics on it. I even disconnected all my phone lines
for several hours while they ran these tests.
Last Friday they replaced the entire electronics module where my
copper meets their fiber optic, which is about 5000 feet from my
house. Over the weekend I had several glitches, but on Monday and
Tuesday, not a single glitch. Maybe they have nailed the problem,
but I'm not holding my breath...
