OT: broken/useless ansi - console driver??

While not wanting to take sides, I offer these obeservations on the whole
issue:

1. The AT386-ie mode offers one significant advantage: it supports more
accented characters without excess gyrations. This is important to
international users (even Canadians :-).

2. I believe the at386-ie termcap entry accurately describes this
emulation. I presume the termcap entry does also.

3. The change affects only the console. There is no impact on X or
terminal emulation sessions.

4. If there is a problem with filePro, then one solution would be for
filePro to publish an at386-ie entry for their termcap.

5. As has been pointed out previously, there's a bug in the console setup:
mapchan should be null.

It's a fact of life that changes occur, and we have to deal with them. If
something has been consistent for 17 years, that's amazing.
