Extending Files

Excellent - now here's the fun part:

I have 2 systems up and running. On one, (T&D Box) I created a file
called "filex1" and, for the qualifiers, filetestx1. This worked
nicely. All data was written to the *x1 files for both the qualified
and the unqualified files.

On the other system (Production) I created the same file (filex1 and
filetestx1) and while filex1 worked fine, filetestx1 did not work. I
checked all permissions, etc. Everything looked fine. I then created
(because I was second guessing myself) filex1test - and guess what...
It worked. It started writing to filex1test. Any ideas why this would
happen???
