Wouldn't it be simpler to just release secure software in the first place?

I sure as hell would NOT trust anti-spyware/anti-virus software from the
company that created the holes to begin with.  They need a sharp crack
with a virtual 2x4 for even pondering that one.  

Hell, why don't they just make a break into honesty and charge users for
hotfixes and patches, then?  Same thing, basically speaking, as a technical
result.  But at least they wouldn't be masquerading as the good guy in my
proposed method.

That has to be one of the sleaziest business models I've heard of, to date.
