If done as there, with the taxes included in the displayed retail price 
people would forget about it after a while.

So, the $149.95 price tag on a 20" Chinese TV set would be replaced by a 
tag of $181.20 (at 14% VAT with 6% state sales tax on top the item and 
vat). The sale receipt would show only the price paid -- no tax 
breakdown.  The retailer would have to do all the tax breakout and 
payment just as now.
