Jeff,
I sympathize with you (but not too much :-) I have the same problem with
Outlook 2002 and I can not see what I'm doing. It is a real pain in the ass
to get into the To: field and change the sender's name to fplist (which is
my alias for this list). In any case, can I tell you a small shortcut. Of
course, it does not use the mouse though. When you are finished writing
your reply, just press Shift-Tab three times quick, then press the Home key,
and finally the Delete key... then type in the alias for the filePro list.
I hate doing it, too, but you deal with what you have to, right? :-)

Jeff, it is now quite obvious that you really are misunderstanding what I
am writing EVERY time I'm writing it. Please, read the last. It is
dead-simple to use the -xa option in *any* file... I _know_ that... but for
the third time let me reprint the problem. I'll grab it directly from the
quoted text above...

Can you please just read this statement until you absorb what it is saying.
I simply don't know how to say it any more clearly. Perhaps, and this would
be MUCH better. Just try it yourself and you will immediately SEE what I
have been saying since the very first post. You can not use the -xa option
and run a report directly on that record. It NEVER hits the "End"
statement!!!!! Please, please, just try it and I'm sure you will take the
point. If you still don't see the problem, perhaps, you might drop in the
room and I will physically show you the functionality (and lack of it) that
I am describing. Remember, I am NOT talking about running a report on any
other record or records that are selected other than the one you get with
the -xa option. Let me make one more effort at this.
dreport filename -f some_report -xa -u
This will get you one free record, correct?
Now, while standing on that record, you lookup records from another pair of
files (or more) and PRINT each data line with variables. When you are done
getting the data, you want the Grand Totals to print... but they WON'T!!!!
because you have no way of hitting the END statement. If you do hit an END
statement, you get given another free record!! Do you really not see the
problem yet? I don't know how to describe it any differently. My solution
was to lookup a free record manually while in this -xa mode, close it, then
hand *that* record to the
'SYSTEM "dreport stand -f spcl_subtotals -sr" <
*that_new_CLOSED_record*'.
If you still don't get the functionality of what is happening in the two
different circumstances, I can only ask you again, to just try it... Either
that , or you simply have to take my word for it, the @wgt processing is
NEVER reached without doin g what I suggest. .
