Yup. Unix does nothing unless you tell it to. If this is being
done it has to be an application.
Since UNIX was mentioned but with no vendor variant that tends to
obfuscate it slightly.
However - if the computer is an SCO system and Unix itself is
looking for machines most likely routed is turned on and RIP
request are being made. But that doesn't fit with SALES_JBERK.
And only app will be using UPPERCASE for almost everything in a
Unix system while the OS never does, unless you login with
an UPPERCASE ONLY terminal, and then it is a pain to navigate.

Yupper. And what does NBNS in the subject line me. It's not
