Processing Password Questions

John;
I have always had ABE=ASCII set. Most of the processes have not been opened
in a long time so maybe I am not in as deep as I could be. The few that ask
for a processing password I opened up in word and remove the password on
the first line. Then save it out. Testing it by putting debug on the first
line and opening it successfully and then running the process, then I treat
it as a runaway process and X it out. It still does not develop a PW. So I
hope I am mainly in clear. But time will tell.
Also this is acerbated by the fact that I have moved some of these processes
back and forth between my computer and my client. Now I notice that they
also have a 4th line in FPPATH. I intend to remove that tomorrow when the
operators are working, just in case.
Thanks again
Gary

Gary,
Unfortunately, I don't think you're off the hook yet. From the time the 4th
line had the password on it... every processing table you saved will have
that password written into it. If you have always had ABE=ASCII set in your
config file (or just in the environment) you won't have too much trouble
removing it from these files. If you don't have that set, you are in for
some hassle when you try and modify one of those passwords. Is there *any*
chance you have a save/backup with the fppath file that *had* the 4th line
password on it. At least then you could copy it and use it to get rid of
*all* the passwords first, *then* get rid of the 4th line.
Did you by any chance copy it down? Or, hopefully, you can restore a backup
that *has* that fourth line. If you SAVE'd any processing tables while it
was in place, they will be infected/infested/protected/snarfed with this
password, and you won't be able to edit them again without getting rid of it
somehow.
