We don't always remember who asked for particular features, so we don't
notify you when they're implemented. But we really do pay attention to
user suggestions, as you indicate.

In 15.1 we added support for Linux-style UTF-8 mode (which supersedes
other character set settings). Turn it on with
   Esc % G
or
   Esc % 8
Turn it off with
   Esc % @
Note that in Linux in general, UTF-8 output is controlled by whether your
LANG variable includes "UTF-8".

And yes, we switched the settings file to plain text. This makes it much
easier to compare, modify, etc. these files. That may not always be a good
thing...
