Good seeing everyone last night. Glad to see there was good attendance.
Thanks to John for the excellent demo of my new software!
For several that raised the question, FairView now -does- have an "Always
on Top" mode in Win32. I added it on request tonight. It didn't exist
during the meeting, but I've managed to already add it, test, and release
with the new feature, as promised. The Linux version (yes, one exists and
was released yesterday, actually--and supports full multi-user) doesn't
really need the "Always on Top" feature, since it gains that status
automatically by virtue of how I keep from stealing focus in X-Windows.
I've also fully documented the "advanced" method of controlling FairView
without incurring load times, if you keep persistant windows open. That's
on the web site: http://fairview.fairlite.com/ For those that had a few
speed concerns, you'll see what little is involved in speeding it up
significantly once you read the details.
And FWIW, I'm planning on releasing for FBSD as well, if I can get access
to a system on which to do the work. It basically just needs to be
compiled, but I don't have the necessary libraries and modules for the
FBSD cross-compiler on my linux system. As soon as I get access to an
FBSD system with the necessary resources, that version should magically
materialise.
Thanks to those who complimented my work. That means a lot to me!
Bests,
