You can probably accomplish this thru ODBC and Windows Mobile 2002+..
We are currently looking at Wireless 802.11b Symbol Scanners. However
they aren't going to be used with filePro as we just bought Syspro and
migrating off filePro, but shouldn't be much different. Also you can
make the palms/pocketpc export flatfiles from them once cradled and then
can be easily imported to filePro from a flatfile.

I'm not sure exactly what you are trying. If you separate the wireless
scanner from the handheld palm pilot stuff... we do that. In other
words, we use wireless scanners feeding filePro apps real time and
getting bar coded labels out real time... and etc. This requires nothing
specail, no go-betwen... although I'm not sure what you mean by that.
The scanners we have work through a keyboard wedge. So the info they
gather is essentially fed to the filePro apps as if it were typed in on
a keyboard. I have not much to offer on the other aspect of working
palm pilots into filePro... I've done that with import/export certainly,
but this is not a real time thing... nor even an application thing...
just transferring name/addresses between the palm pilot database and a
filePro database. For this, I simply used the funtions available in the
Palm O/S.

I am trying to connect wireless handheld scanners/palm pilots
(SYMBOLS) to my filepro system. I haven't bought any handheld units yet
but I'm assuming they will come with something like windows CE. I want
real time functionality. I tried running filepro on a hendheld before
and it was just way too hard to work with, because of the size and
limited keys. Is there anything out there for a go-between, read/write
directly to filepro files and be reliable. The only thing I have come up
with so far is using incoming/outgoing text files and having each
program read/post to the files.
Any feedback on which handhalds work best, access points to use,
etc... would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You, Mike Fedko
