I don't go in for _writing_ about politics much at all... I can certainly
_talk_ long and loud about them/it/issues/bias/etc. However, even though I
would probably not join in much possibly at all... I think the OT
specification should not be "censored" in any way. Why wouldn't any topic
someone wants to talk about be okay. It is so easy to dump an OT thread, no
one is forcing anyone to read them or acknowledge that they even exist. In
going through daily mail and list reading, this one provides much of the
best OT stuff around. Whoever wants to play, can, whoever doesn't, can press
D. Why would you have it any other way? I think the fact that people don't
talk about politics often enough is why there are such dichotomies of belief
in our society. I absolutely hate talking to my 20 year old assistant about
anything political... she has such un-supported and un-supportable
beliefs... If there is nothing behind a thought... there is nothing to
discuss really. Here, the opposite is true... there is usually much behind
most people's thoughts. I see by what Ken posted that Greg's message might
not be correct part of in all... regardless, I think he, or anyone, should
be free to post anything here with an OT: topic. Of course, I'm sure we all
agree that anything spam-based, or advertising, or the usual "bad" stuff
should not be tolerated... but just picking a valid topic of discussion like
"politics" and saying it shouldn't be talked about here is not a good thing.
We all have seen some great stuff here, and gotten some great ideas from
discussions in the OT realm. Also, I have found several good books and
sources of information from reading the odd non-filePro thread.

It has been my observation, also, that when there is a spate of OT
threads... people get kind of antsy and start posting things about filePro
to compensate. Anything to get back ON-Topic. And this is a good thing, no?

Just my thoughts. I'm sure there are all sorts of positions in between the
stuff I just said and the stuff-it JP offered. :-)
