fP and rsync problem

I have an issue with rsync of filePro data that I'm hoping someone can help
with. I know we have some avid rsync fans here.
write failed on appl/filepro/TABLENAME/index.A : Success
rsync error: error in file IO (code 11) at receiver.c(272)
rsync: writefd_unbuffered failed to write 4 bytes: phase "unknown": Broken pipe
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(515)
I've not been able to get it to continue onwards, and it's stuck on this
one file. Use of lsof does show that two copies of dclerk have index.A
open. The index is only 118784 bytes long. The only thing I can think of
is if it's locked. But that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm seeing like
28u from lsof, and if I'm reading lsof's docs right, if there was a lock on
any segment I should see 28uu, should I not?
Anyone having any pertinant information relative to this willing to share?
