Barring any quoting of my original post, I presume that you mean my
specific one about running all users as UID 0?
I don't recall having an attitude when I posted it. It was anecdotal
evidence of how people will do the stupidest things sometimes if the
software permits it, even if they've been running the same flavour OS for
five years and -know- better. The fix was no great feat. I simply used
documented arguments to rpm and automated it. *shrug* It wasn't a matter
of any "greatness" of mine, so much as the irony of his first breaking it
through utter incompetance and then not knowing how to fix it--when he
was the supposed "admin". The fix was a by-and-by conclusion to the
anecdote. The -important- part was that too many people practice unsafe
computing at every turn. If you give them an inch, they'll take the
distance from Earth to Centauri Prime.
Since you take such umbrage to my anecdote, and are apparently so upset
that you felt the need to speak up on behalf of the "stupids" out there, am
I to infer that you run all users as UID 0, or the Windows equivalent? Or
are you simply having a bad day and overreacting to something that actually
had no attitude present, express or implied, even if it doesn't apply to
you?
No matter. You've said what you wished to, I'm saying I had no attitude in
mind other than preaching safe computing practices. If you want to read
more into it than that, so be it. I hope your day improves.
Bests,
