William,

I think that what John was indicating, was not a "free Speech" issue as much a
being "scammed". This person extolled the listeners to visit his web site to
see the video for over an hour.

When John got home, This person claimed he had removed said video for what ever
reason.

To me this is the same as a retailers "Bait and Switch" sales tactic which is
illegal in most places in the US.

If someone wants me to visit his web site, fine, tell me about it all you want,
but don;'t lie to me.

Granted, everyone who went to his site and was disappointed or angered at not
finding what they were looking for, will never return to that site. Still ii
is "Bait and Switch".

Freedom of speech, yes. down right lying no. He lied to his listeners and not
a political lie. The constitution protects political speech not all speech.
More then yelling fire in a theater is unconstitutional.

People are finding that they are not free to express themselves about their
bosses or company's. They can loose their jobs or be held libel for looses.
People posting complaints about their employers on the web have been fired.
These firings have been upheld.

This is the problem today, individuals feel that they can say what ever they
want to whom ever they want with no consideration of the others individual.
This is why kids have no respect for other people property, why music is
blasted from boom boxes or car radios. I can go on and on.

As a society we have lost respect for those around us. It has become "me" and
other don;'t count. Now, much of this attitude can be laid at my generation,
"the me generation; make love not war". But when all one thinks about is "me",
society as a whole looses.

John;

Calm down. Walk away from the radio. Better yet,
instead of infringing on other people's right of self expression
read this:

"Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press;

or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government
for a redress of grievances. "

This guy; Mike Gallagher; has his right to speak whatever he wants; (except FIRE
in a crowded theater).
You have the right to listen. You also have the right to switch stations or
turn the butthead off.  Simple.

This Constitution protects all of us; buttheads included. The FCC clamps down
on people (Howard Stern)
who go over the line but the FCC or any other government body CANNOT take away
our right to make fools
out of ourselves.

Believe it or not we need people like Mike Gallagher, Rush Limbaugh, Howard
Stern and Al Franken.  We
need them to be out there, giving us their opinions; then we can make up our own
minds.  The only way we
can hope to change this country is to; first listen and seek to understand.
Then talk and hope to be understood.

As for me; I never argue with anyone, I do, from time to time, engage them in a
dialectical struggle.  I understand
them and their eschewed views and try to get them to understand mine.

Anyway, John, calm down and turn the radio off or change the channel.

Have a great day and, Mr. Esak, make the day count!
