Ah.

Yes, I've checked the entire trail of directories (why doesn't ls have
a switch for that?), and everything is user-searchable, and the last
one is writeable.  Indeed, it creates the file.

I really like the unity of letting MM do the selection work; it's
easier to code, and easier to teach.
