John,
My understanding is that the programmers have been given the wish list
to sort out as "trivial", "doable", or "in your dreams" (so to speak).
Once that is done then management will make the final selection for the
next version. Some of that has already been done. I don't think that
the AC will know what has been selected until the version comes out
because of the issues like "you promised that but you didn't do it" or
differences of priorities. Remember that the AC has already voted on
the list. Their role pretty much has to be submit and rank not a lot of
dialog or the politics will get muddy real quick.
To recap, the sequence is:
1. Anyone gives a wish to an AC member who posts it and assigns priority
level to it
2. fPTech periodically retrieves the list and organizes it to remove
redundancy and sort it by category
3. fPTech programmers sort the list as described above
4. Management makes the final selection based on AC priority and
programmer possibilities.
If it works like it is supposed to I think it is a reasonable plan. The
main drawback is that it does leave those who submit wishes in the dark
for a long time. Some wishes will be in the next version and others may
follow in the future.
Best,
Wally
