And apparently the defense argued that at that temperature, you suffer
full tissue burns (all the way through all layers of the skin).  Supposedly
her pants trapped the coffee and she suffered full tissue burns in a wide
area.  Apparently medical experts thought differently.  But it added to the
case that said that it was a 'rogue' McD's that was violating policy by
keeping it that hot (I don't believe it, having worked at one), which had
supposedly been cited three times prior for the same "offense".  

And that's not unique to McD's either...Hardee's kept theirs at 180-190F
when I worked there in HS.

Personally, I can't handle it in my mouth at anywhere near the temperature
they serve it.  I have to let it cool off at least 10-15min or so before I
even start.  I'm surely not stupid enough to open it between my legs if the
roof of my mouth can't handle it.  :)
