Apples and Oranges comparision. Anyone who stops to think about this in a non Rush Limbaugh fashion (and in his case "think" is a generous stretch of the word), will quickly catch the differences between the situations.
Perhaps foremost, is that fear did not have to be "stoked" during the Second World War, as this Administration appears inclined to do on an almost daily basis, with it's non-specific "credible threats". All the while telling us we are "safer".
What was that story about holding two contradictory positions at the same time and fully believing them both?
Further, Europe was an "occupied land", that was overrun by an external force. The French were, in that instance, more than welcoming of the US troops (as had been the natives of Sicily and Italy, I might add). Quite the opposite is true in this case.
