What I just read about TECO basically makes it out as another EMACS (or
more correctly, a predecessor thereof).

I'd rather use EMACS than Word/36.  In a heartbeat.  Actually, I was a huge
EMACS fan.  I only started using vi[m] consistantly because it was on more
systems by default.  I gave up emacs by and large for regular use when I
started working more on other people's systems than on my own.  I still use
it now and then though, and I use emacs style bindings in everything that
allows it (tcsh, centericq, etc.).

Now the real cool combination was LaTeX and EMACS.  Great editing, and
fantastic printing.  There are days I'd rather use that combo than Word,
actually.
