Scott, my impressions are based on fptech's roadshow demo several years
ago when they were first rolling out the product.
What I saw was a tool for a) mouse-enabling existing character apps and b)
running said character apps from a web browser client instead of a
terminal emulator. If that's all you need, I suppose GI does it
well. A key selling point seemed to be that GI code and features
were all backward compatible to character-based filePro, so one could mix
and match web and terminal stations for the same program. Control over
graphical cosmetics varied from limited to none. I found the included
Gee-Whiz features (popdown calculator applet for numeric fields, popdown
calendar applet for date fields) largely irrelevant to my purposes.
About one year ago I bought a copy for evaluation, but I was unable to
make it work; since I also got no response from fptech support within
my window of time for evaluation, I instead deleted the software from
my machine and had them credit my purchase. Hence I have no idea what may
have been added or improved in recent years.
