Doug,
I had an old filePro output format that did that when we upgraded to a
new printer. It turned out we had a print code that told the new
printer to disconnect in the form. You might want to try the print job
by printing to a file, with and without any print codes. Then see if
the file causes the printer to do this when it is sent from the command
line like Ken suggested with the same command you used in the
Destination for that printer.
