As a bare minimum, use 4.9SP2 for XP.  A lot of places feel that 4.9
is still too new, and take a more conservative approach and
run 4.83SP3 (that's what we do).  The main 4.9 offering is that
it is not subject to a 2Gig file size limit.  If that doesn't
apply to you, you might want to look at 4.83SP3.  That's pretty
bulletproof.

That is very good.  You don't want to get into the strange disconnect
issue that affects a very small/specific combination of OS/NIC/client.
