"No." :)
No mail running on 'doze here. I've got a win95b system that's been
running since '96 that has been hit by -one- virus that I detected and
removed within 2 minutes--it vectored through an exploit in SMB shares
before I was firewalled (and which I thereafter patched anyway).
Yeah, it can be done. And you don't even have to be as draconian about it
as nuking IE. I started using IE almost exclusively about the time I was
still on dialup and began hating downloading 16MB for -each- browser every
time they'd release new ones--right around NS4's release with the whole
"Communicator" thing. Of course, being on win95 on this box, I'm limited
to sticking with IE 5.5. :)
I'm just careful where I browse. If I have even a doubt, I either go with
lynx from a shell server, or I don't go.
Even -with- hole-laden software, you can still be relatively safe if you
know what you're doing, so long as you're aware of the 'limitations'.
But I'd never use OutLook for inbound. Too many limitations to be aware
of--all disguised as features. Outbound fax only.
