On the other hand, the legal actions by AOL, Microsoft, and a couple of
other 900lb Gorrilla ISPs are causing some serious damage to the
professional spammers. AOL is raffling of a Porsche that was taken from a
California spammer recently (you have to have been an existing AOL customer
prior to some date to get in on this :-).

Many of these suits are being brought in Virginia under laws other than
CAN-SPAM, laws dealing with fraud, and other obviously illegal activity.
The court where the suits are being brought has the nick-name ``the rocket
dockette'' for the speed with which things move there.

I saw a very funny e-mail recently on an anti-spam mailing list that was
from a local Seattle spammer who had all his computer equipment siezed. He
was looking for a ``good cheap lawyer'' to take on Microsoft. His e-mail
was to a group of spammers, and he admitted to several major violations
while asking them for help to find said lawyer.

If I were a major spammer caught in the cross-hairs of these guys, I think
I would heading for someplace that didn't have extradition treaties with
the U.S.

Instead of giving money to found colleges to promote learning, why don't
they pass a constitutional amendment prohibiting anybody from learning
anything? If it works as good as the Prohibition one did, why, in five
years we would have the smartest race of people on earth.
