I've been very happy with my Brother MFC-J5930DW multi-function
printer on Linux and Macs.  We also have a Brother MFC-J5855DW
which works well.

The Brother MFC-J5930DW has a single-pass duplex scanner which
works very nicely with VueScan.  It has 2 paper trays and a
multipurpose tray that I use for envelopes and checks.

I use ghostpdl to convert HP PCL to PDF from my ancient
accounting software that runs with SuSE Pro 9 on VMWare as my
software was developed on SCO OpenServer and that's the most
recent version of Linux that supports COFF binaries.

I don't know as I don't do anything with Windoes.
