Retirement

Dave,
Can't help (being *very* happily retired myself!) Just wanted to say that I hope you receive some takers on your search. I wish I had written something as clearly stated as your note when I went through the same situation a decade or more ago myself. I tried to put everyone who relied on me (and some of my programs) onto other support people at the time, but still, there are a couple real "legacy" clients out there who do call or email me from time to time. It's not something I mind at all, but damn if one doesn't lose their programming chops when they are not actively used constantly! .
If things progress as I hope they will, I think that I will purchase afilePro wbdevelopment toolkit when and if they are available... just as a hobby. It certainly would be nice to see some *clerk type functions popping up on a web site! Who knows the amazing apps people like us "retirees" might come up with as we take many (well-deserved) milk and cookie breaks! Happily, I'm still not completely out to pasture yet... still doing gigs with my band about every two weeks.
Good luck.
John

Subject: Retirement
I'm Dave Duff
I'd like to retire somewhat by the end of the year, possibly sooner if my neck surgery doesn't go well.
My practice is down to about 8 to 10 clients, all SUSE Linux based, with one SCO client.
They have been very good clients for many years and I would like to make sure they get properly taken care of.
My company has been a developer since 1988 and I've got a number of vertical packages available, including Mobile Home Park, Telephones Sales/Repair. Hydraulic Sales/Service and Termite/Pest Control.
I also own some of John Esak's Accounting, plus quite a bit more odds and ends.
I've worked with some brilliant programmers and we did some pretty incredible stuff.
I'm looking for someone it their 50s or early 60s to take over.
I'm willing to help train for free and will charge a minimal fee to do client support until you get up to speed.
This will include some of the Filepro Development software, at no charge
I don't need any money, just the assure that my client's will be taken care of. If you are interested, please let me know.
dduff at pcsi.us or 727-458-1968
Thanks
Dave
