Doers mid work with dim

I have a menu wich uses dim to vreasat a menu in a -v select processing table

I would like to get the first value (a number) of the selected option. I have tried din name(6)
Where nsme
name("1") title"
s(1,.0)=mid(name("1"),1,1) I get an error message from filePro  pointing The opening parentheses.

Can anyone tell me why am getting this error message?
