Issue with Syntax check

I have a process that has passed the syntax many times.  FilePro version 6.0.0.2.14 and Windows 10 Pro Version 21H1 Build 19043.1526

I am now getting  The error invalid argument on if: x = "";then ms="a" ;GOSUB chkdate (No issue with this)

Why am I getting this message after all this time?
