Tom Podnar Death WAS: I haven't seen a notice here...so

That's the problem. There aren't too many Young users for FilePro. Most of us are older (in our 60's and 70's or older). Why should a young person learn filePro when there are flashier databases out their which require less training and where jobs are available?

I have been using filePro for more then 30 years and built a business on it. I still have clients using it. Most are on version 5.0 and see no reason to upgrade. Soon many will have to upgrade as they will need to be able to output PDF's as printer support for PCL 3 and 5 disappear. Most are not having issues with what functionality is available to them in version up to 5.0. They don't want to spend the money for The upgrade. At least they are aware that the upgrade will cost them more than just the Software cost. The will need to pay for my time to install it and the added programming. Most are barely hanging on to their business. My 2 strongest clients have ready upgraded to 6.0 and are making use of many of the features. One is using the pdf output option along with PrintWizard to create PDF's for some of their outputs.

I think a lot more of us filePro users knew and respected Tom than you think, John.

I took Microlite training classes from Tom many years ago at one of the SCO forums and again a few years later at the filePro convention in Philadelphia. I recognized many of the students in both classes as also being filePro users.
