MS dropped basic authentication - You must use Oauth/TLS ... You should 
be OK if set properly from Thunderbird and/or Outlook for both Office 
365 or Outlook online.

They announced their intend to do so back in 2021 - It was scheduled for 
Oct 2022 but they seem to have gotten their calendar mixed up.

If you are using SMTP/IMAP or anything at all within your application, 
you need to setup an access code (token) and whitelist the application.
