OT: can NOT open up my router to modify the router using Linux Chrome

Most likely, that router is too old to be used with a modern browser.

Google and Mozilla update their browsers practically in tandem to
deprecate and eliminate older encryptions protocols which are deemed
problematic. Once they eliminate all the ones your router is capable of
speaking, you're kind of screwed, because they no longer share a common
tongue.

Try Edge. If Edge doesn't work, it's likely time to update your router.
It's probably -still- time, and you're just borrowing enough to get your
work done at the moment. Edge will likely eventually patch as well, if
they haven't already.
