MAC ISSUE

A lot of missing information.
1) What is the version of filePro the customer is running
2) What is the version of Windows the customer is running. 32 or 64 bit?
3) What is the version of VMWare. Are there any snapshots in place?
4) Can you save a file using notepad on the drive the key and data are on?
5) What is the amount of free space on the drive the key & data are on?
6) What is the free space on the Mac's drive?

My money is riding that it relates to #3. If a snapshot on a running system and it can't get the space it needs it will act like this. Been there done it. Fixing may require expanding the datastore, which I have no idea on a Mac host what that would even look like.

The other questions above are trying to find out if you have a version that doesn't play nice on large partitions.

My guess is that someone was monkeying around in the VMWare. Snapshots are not free, and they don't work at all like the marketing people would like you to imagine. I have also had consolidate snapshots fail like this when intermediate points got corrupted.

I would contact VMware tech support if #4 is the issue. It's probably more than $200/hour these days.

Of course you always could spin up a new copy from the backups and get current with the transaction logs you ship off site after every database transaction.

Subject: MAC ISSUE

I HAVEW A CLIEWNT WHO IS USING FILEPRO ON A mac WITH Window running in a virtual mode. VMWARE

He is now having an issue adding records. There is plenty of room on his hard drive but filePro will not allow for adding records. As I do not work with MACs I have no idea of how to solve this issue.

I am going to assume that the virtual machine needs to be reconfigured as the is showing there more than adequate space to add records but filePro's dexpand show 0 space for adding any records. Also, I can not access any records already on the drive using *clerk and selecting auto index A and pressing F7. I amsop can not access the file using a record number. I have tried using 1 and then the last record number indicated which is 18,702 Even if I type in this number, Nothing happens. I have rebuilt the indexes and run freechn on this file. Nothing helps.

Can anyone tell me what to due?
