Thank you for the reply.  According to filePro PFEOF is for memo fields.  From their website 'Sets the End-of-field marker character for filePro's memo editor.'

I may very well be wrong about this, as it's not found in Stocker's man page.  I do, however, remember it, and associate it mentally as a Windows-only feature.  You change the *nix versions via termcap.
